270 Square Ft. Exterior Porcelain Tile project.
This was a pretty neat project for us. Challenging, but ultimately very rewarding. First off, we needed to level a rather large dip in the concrete right in the middle of the project area. Most of the concrete was extremely out of level and had to be leveled with the tile as we were setting.
This particular pattern incorporated 3 different sized tile, a 6″ x 6″, a 12″ x 12″, and finally an 18″ x 18″ Porcelain tile. We also used a 1/8″ grout joint which was extremely challenging with an out-of-level surface as well as continually overlapping grout joints.
We also incorporated “soft joints” (elastomeric sanded caulking) at the concrete expansion joints instead of grout to allow for expansion and contraction of the concrete joint over time.
Bravo to the homeowners for an extremely attractive tile selection, pattern and grout color. Everything turned out extremely well on this project
